Merton Silver Rainbows is a new group for older LGBTQ+ adults. We launched with a tea party in July, which was really successful.
The next event is on Friday 25th October 11am – 1.30pm.
This will include a dance movement taster session with Geoffery Unkovich, followed by a discussion about what people would like to see in future events.
Lunch of jacket potatoes with different fillings will be served at 12.30pm followed by dessert. The cost of lunch is £7.00 and we ask that people book in advance by calling us on 020 8648 5792 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
What does it mean to be an older LGBT+ person?
Who am I as I age?
Whose body is this?
This support group provides an opportunity to share thoughts, feelings, memories, hopes and movement about our aging LGBT+ bodies and social experience.
The sessions will provide a safe and supportive space for you to
- receive honest emotional support to help reduce social isolation and loneliness
- feel accepted and appreciated for who you are and all you have experienced
- explore positive ways of thinking and being as an LGBT+ elder
- enjoy the life you have now
There is no expectation of how you may move or speak, the time is yours to share with fellow older LGBT+ people.
Sessions are with Geoffery Unkovich, he is a 62 year old gay man and a dance movement psychotherapist. This is a form of therapy where you can talk, move, draw, rest, and release, in your own way while in the company of others. Geoffery is passionate about providing a group that will support age 60+ LGBT+ people. His life experience as a gay man informs his professional practice, his personal ventures, and his ways of thinking, moving and relating in his aging body.
Come along and try a session, receive and give support, explore some shared movement to release tension, for self-expression and to interact with others.
Come along and be you in the comfort of others
