Mia Bays, Director of Birdseye View, campaign agency for gender equality in film, has chosen three films for FilmMerton which have women’s stories at their centre. Not only do these films have women in front of the camera they are also found behind the lens as directors.

7 August – The Kindergarten Teacher (12)

A 2018 American drama  directed by Sara Colangelo and starring Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Please note this film is a change from the previously published programme

8 August – Leave No Trace (12)

The film follows a veteran father with PTSD (Ben Foster) who lives in the forest with his young daughter (Thomasin McKenzie)

9 August – Revenge (18)

Revenge is a 2017 French  revenge action horror film written and directed by Coralie Fargeat, and starring Matilda Lutz. Contains scenes that viewers may find upsetting
